Raben Germany’s dedicated general cargo network to go live

Raben Germany completed the preparations for the launch of its own general cargo network from the beginning of 2018. After the market entry in 2005 in Germany, the logistics service provider has continuously evolved. Now the company sees itself prepared for carrying out national general cargo transport using its own structures.

Today the independent network of Raben Germany comprises 29 locations. After about decade and a half after the start of operation on Germany’s roads, about 3,000 people work for the company in Germany.

Daniel Rösch, Managing Director of Raben Germany, gives an outlook on the new product that Raben will be offering to its customers in Germany from the beginning of January 2018: “We are 100 percent prepared for this demanding task. With our own general cargo network, we can offer our customers high quality without friction losses.”

In the past two years Raben Germany has prepared itself for the challenges of independent freight forwarding in the general cargo business through organic growth and targeted acquisitions. Since the start of the year 2017, the transport and logistics companies Exice GmbH and RLZ Baden GmbH, the Kamen location of Schmalz + Schön Logistik-Gruppe, the freight forwarder Busse Logistik and a former Rhenus site in Fellbach have been acquired for their network. These and further acquired companies found their way into the German subsidiary of the Raben Group.

“As a logistics service provider, we want to support the ambitious economic goals of our customers with tailor-made products. For example, all of our efforts, which have, for example, increased the number of branches to a total of 32 locations since last December, are subordinate to the goal of delivering a very good service. In addition to investing into skilled employees, around 2,000 trucks, as well as IT and warehouse infrastructure, we are constantly improving our processes,” says Daniel Rösch.

More 85 years of experience makes the Raben Group one of the leading logistics companies in the markets of Central and Eastern Europe. Its more than 9,500 employees provide comprehensive logistics solutions for road, sea and air freight transport as well as global supply chain management. In 2016, the group’s sales exceeded EUR 1 billion. The Raben Group manages around 1.15 million m² warehouses in Europe, and a fleet of 7,000 vehicles.
