Austrian Post continues to pursue its way towards new, innovative delivery options. Following a successful launch of parcel delivery on Saturdays last autumn, the company is now to roll out parcel delivery in the evening, and “shöpping.at”, an online market place this year.
Evening delivery shall help reaching even more customers directly, and recipients to get their parcels sooner. Evening delivery was initiated in Linz last year, with Vienna to follow this year. The Post will deliver same day shipments and next day shipments.
At the same time Post enhances its self-service. There are currently more than 300 self service zones across the country, equipped with stamp machine and dispatch box, where letters and parcels can be sent 24/7, independent from opening hours. In addition, about two thirds of the self service zones have a collection station, where parcels or large-size or registered letters can be deposited and collected at any time as well.
The Post sees an enormous potential in online trade for the domestic industry, as today about 60 percent of e-commerce shipments are coming from Germany. In the course of this year, the Austrian online market place called “shöpping.at“ will be launched, and offer a wide range of services and the usual delivery quality of the Post. “shöpping.at“ shall serve as a hub for domestic retailers, producers and consumers and push the national online business.
