The new Loxxess-owned data center ensures maximum reliability, speed and security of central IT systems, the stored data, and the data exchange with customers and between company-owned locations. The outsourcing specialist for logistics in industry and trade thus meets all current standards of a Tier4 data center. Simultaneously, the specific needs of the logistics industry are taken into account with the complex network of many sites and partners.
The central data warehouse, which is affiliated to a Bavarian Loxxess site, consists of two redundant locations with an additional power supply via a diesel emergency generator each. The connection to the Internet is made via two separate lines from different providers. Two firewall systems are in use, to keep away malicious software. They meet all current compliance standards.
The applications and data with specially clustered server / storage systems are kept highly available and are protected by a three-stage backup system. All systems are scalable as needed, so that the expected growth-related increase in the volume of data is taken into account.
“On the one hand, the importance of IT for the smooth collaboration with our customers and for their sales is increasing, on the other hand, the IT systems are becoming more powerful and comprehensive. Therefore, we want and must invest continuously in this area, in order to meet the requirements,” Marcel Breusch, member of the Board of Management for the IT area, justifies the investment in an own data center.
