In Schwanenstadt, Upper Austria, B&S Warehousing GmbH officially started operations on September 12th, with five employees. The sister company of B&S Logistik GmbH, based in Vienna, offers sustainable and environmentally friendly warehouse logistics with a rail siding.

In the past months, more than EUR 3 million have been invested in the purchase, adaptation and modernisation of this property (former warehouse of Inku). The 6,000 m² building is located on an area of 18,000 m² and, according to Managing Director Gerhard Gattinger, could be expanded by a lightweight hall by 2020.

Initially, B&S Warehousing GmbH will provide storage and handling services for Lenzing AG. Rail wagons containing fiber products and pulp are received, transhipped, loaded and unloaded. The goods are subsequently forwarded either by truck or rail.

A fully covered rail siding with a capacity for five railway cars is available for this purpose and is operated twice daily by the Rail Cargo Group. Gerhard Gattinger expects 2,500 wagons per year to replace about 7,500 lorry trips. The transhipment is handled using special equipment with clamps for pulp and fiber bales.
