New container depot at Graz Süd Terminal

The newly created area in the Cargo Center Graz shall primarily be available for empty container storage

New container depot at Graz Süd Terminal

In the past years, the Graz Süd Terminal had been able to generate strong increases in container throughput. So far, a 25,000 m² depot had been available for interim storage of containers. As this area was used to its capacity due to the rising volume, this required an expansion, which was implemented during the past two months without interrupting operations.
Since the end of November 8,000 m² or 600 container slots are available. This area is primarily used to store empty containers. A designated mobile fork lift is used to manipulate the boxes. It can stack up to four containers. „This helps us to improve the service quality for our customers”, Joachim Herler, Manger of the terminal, is convinced.
The Graz Süd Terminal, operated by the Styrian federal railway Steiermärkische Landesbahnen, is located on the Baltic-Adriatc corridor (TEN-corridor). Since its opening in 2003, the terminal has become an important logistics centre for Styria, but also for the industry throughout Southeastern Europe. The core activities are the transhipment of cargo units  between road and rail, complemented by additional services such as warehouses, customs office, packaging or gassing of containers.
