MSC Austria hires Nicola Lelli as General Manager

Nicola Lelli has been strengthening the management team of MSC Austria since 1 March 2019 as General Manager. Most recently, the rail logistics specialist was Head of Intermodal Operation & Sales at DFDS Business Unit Mediterranen, formerly U.N. Ro-Ro. In his previous position, he worked in the area of production management and network coordination at the Rail Cargo Group in Vienna. Thus, the new entrant to the shipping agency has extensive experience in the areas of Sales, Operating, Intermodal and Short Sea Operations.

Thanks to his his career, Nicola Lelli also has excellent knowledge of the Adriatic market – an important gateway for the world’s second largest container shipping company and the Austrian sea freight market.  “In his capacity as General Manager at MSC Austria, he reports directly to the Austrian management,” was reported to the Österreichische Verkehrszeitung on request.

Nicola Lelli began his career in the logistics industry as a project manager for rail operations and worked in operational and commercial positions at several Italian railway companies. His international career started in Paris with the International Union of Railways in Paris (2014 – 2016) and then continued with the Rail Cargo Group in Vienna.

The MSC branches in Vienna and Salzburg employ more than 70 people who provide local shippers with access to a global network of road, rail and sea transport. Due to the geographical proximity and natural conditions offered by the port of Trieste, this serves as the main gateway for the Austrian market. In recent years, the domestic terminals have been connected to the port with the “Runner products” – and continuous development of the traffic is planned.

The Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC) is one of the world’s leading container shipping lines headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The MSC Group is represented worldwide with 480 offices in 155 countries and over 70,000 employees.
