Union Tank Eckstein GmbH & Co. KG is continuing its internationalisation strategy with the opening of a new branch in Slovakia: With its new office in Bratislava the mobility provider is strengthening its local presence in Central and Eastern Europe. A separate sales team is now responsible for the nationwide distribution of the UTA card system and provides customer support in Slovakia.

“The new branch in Slovakia is entirely in line with our growth strategy, which aims to expand our presence in Central and Eastern Europe”, says Volker Huber, CEO of UTA. “We look forward to efficiently advance the development of our products in the highly dynamic growth markets of the logistics sector.”

Slovakia is a sought-after logistics location in the CEE region. In addition to large automobile clusters, leading online dealers have also established a foothold there and operate distribution centres that supply customers throughout Europe. The demand for logistics and transport services is rising accordingly. Every year, some 200 million tonnes of goods are transported within Slovakia, of which three quarters are transported by road. According to Eurostat data, Slovakia ranks sixth in international traffic, ahead of Hungary, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

Union Tank Eckstein GmbH & Co. KG (UTA) is one of the leading providers of fuel and service cards in Europe. Via the UTA card system, commercial customers can refuel at any of more than 59,000 points of acceptance in 40 European countries regardless of brand and without cash, as well as use additional on-the-go services. These include toll collection, workshop services, breakdown and towing services as well as the reimbursement of VAT and mineral oil tax.
