On September 22, 2017, Makita Austria officially opened the new company headquarters in the Vienna Airport Region. From now on, 84 employees will be responsible for the logistics and distribution of a broad product range for the power tool and garden sector. The aim is to increase the number of employees to around 100 staff.
“The Vienna Airport Region is the best choice for our business and our expansion towards Eastern Europe. Above all, we benefit from the nearby airport as well as the excellent connection to the motorway network.By expansion of office and storage space, capacity can be increased. This is accompanied by the improvement of logistical processes, “said Nobuo Katamine, Managing Director Makita Austria, in his opening speech.
The new site of Makita Austria in Fischamend in the district of Bruck an der Leitha (Lower Austria) has grown to around 23,000 m². It comprises a modern office building as well as a 16-meter high warehouse with 17,000 pallet bays, eight truck docking ramps, a service center and a repair shop.
The Makita Werkzeug Ges.m.b.H. was founded in 1981 as the tenth branch of the Japanese parent company and is the head office for four Eastern European countries. The company with a turnover of around EUR 55 million per year was located in the Kolpingstraße in the 23rd district of Vienna before it moved to Fischamend.
The Vienna Airport Region lies in the heart of a growing economic region and is distinguished by its perfect transport links to the road and rail network as well as the immediate proximity to Vienna International Airport. “Twelve companies have settled in the past year alone, and we are talking to many others,” said Dr. Günther Ofner, CEO of the Flughafen Wien AG. Probably the next large settlement will be announced in a few weeks.
