With the introduction of the new winter schedule MacAndrews and OPDR decided to set up a completely new liner service called “Portugal & South Spain” service (POSS) which calls the ports of Tilbury, Dunkirk, Rotterdam, Leixoes, Setubal, Lisbon, Algeciras and Cartagena on a weekly basis.
Three Short Sea container vessels with a capacity of each 700 TEU are deployed on the POSS service. OPDR operates all three vessels while the container slots on all vessels are equally divided between MacAndrews and OPDR.
This new POSS service is designed to offer customers a lean and fast logistics product to and from the Portuguese and Spanish ports. It increases the sailing frequency from four to six sailings per week to and from Portugal, answering all clients’ needs.
Since July 2015, OPDR is part of the CMA CGM group and a subsidiary of MacAndrews, a UK-based affiliate of CMA CGM with a strong Short Sea portfolio. Till Ole Barrelet, Chief Executive Officer of the OPDR Group and Chief Operational Officer of MacAndrews states: “I am very pleased that this first joint service of MacAndrews and OPDR has now started and both MacAndrews and OPDR are looking forward to further deepening their collaboration.”
