LogServ continues as global supplier of Primetals Technologies

The order situation at the customer Primetals Technologies is also increasing the demands for the logistics service provider

LogServ continues as global supplier of Primetals Technologies

Logistics Service GmbH (LogServ) has been in charge of Primetals Technologies (formerly Siemens VAI and Voestalpine Industrieanlagenbau) for 17 years. The customer is a global technology group in the areas of plant construction, process engineering, automation and services in the metal industry and provides reliable solutions for all process steps in iron and steel production. Thanks to their perfect cooperation, the contract with LogServ has been renewed for a further three years.

The growing number of large-scale Primetals Technologies projects around the world also means growing demands for LogServ. Especially the recent orders have presented many challenges for the logisticians, for example the delivery of 600 containers from nine different destinations for a continuous casting plant in Bangladesh or for 9,000 tonnes of sea freight from India, China and Vietnam for a sinter plant in Japan with short delivery times and many partial shipments.

“Primetals Technologies appreciates the expertise, flexibility and performance of LogServ. Above all, the close coordination of customer requirements, the mutual trust and the high degree of transparency of the business relationships led to a renewal of the contract,” reads a press release.

Primetals Technologies (formerly Siemens VAI and Voestalpine Industrieanlagenbau) was founded in 2015 as a joint venture between Siemens and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) & Partners. The company employs approximately 7,000 people worldwide. Four of the seven global business units are managed and operated from Linz (1,400 employees).

Logistik Service GmbH (LogServ) was founded on April 1st, 2001 as a subsidiary of voestalpine Stahl GmbH as a full-service provider of logistics services for the domestic large-scale industry. The customers are mainly based in metal production and processing, in the building materials and process industry, in mechanical and plant engineering and also in the automotive and supply industry.

In the railway sector, operators of works and connecting railways, private railway companies and private freight car rental companies are served. At the voestalpine location in Linz, LogServ operates Austria’s largest connecting railway as well as its own Danube port with efficient handling facilities.
