On 18 January 2018, the traditional New Year reception of the Port of Vienna took place. The “thinkport VIENNA Logistics Labs”, the new innovative logistics laboratory in the port of Vienna, was chosen as the venue for the event. Operated in cooperation with the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, it serves as a think and innovation workshop as well as an open mobility laboratory dealing with the long-term challenges of logistics in urban areas.
Peter Hanke, Wien Holding Managing Director, and Fritz Lehr and Doris Pulker-Rohrhofer, the two Managing Directors of the Port of Vienna moderated the event attended by numerous guests. After the official part, attendees used the opportunity for expert discussions and networking, accompanied by culinary delights.
The Hafen Wien Group, a company of the Wien Holding Group, operates three major freight ports including infrastructure: Freudenau Port, Port of Albern and Lobau Oil Port. Around 1,000 cargo ships are handled each year in all three freight ports. The main cargo groups transported on the waterway are mineral oil products and road salt, building materials such as cement, sand or steel products, or agricultural products such as grain and fertilizer.
