On May 20, Kuehne + Nagel officially opened the new hub for air/sea freight and land transport at the Europaring in Straubing, Germany. The area of more than 54,000 m² includes a 12,000 m² warehouse with 115 gates for goods handling as well as an office building.

“From here, we send more than 850,000 overland shipments or 450,000 tonnes of freight, around 11,500 air freight shipments and about 12,500 sea freight containers. This subsidiary strengthens our foothold in one of Europe’s fastest-growing regions,” says Nicholas Minde, Member of the management board of Kuehne + Nagel Germany.

Kuehne + Nagel is optimising its overland transport fleet within the scope of an initiative to increase road safety and reduce exhaust emissions. In future, the company will only purchase models that come equipped with a turning assistant. All vehicles also meet the strictest standards for fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. The first 350 new fleet vehicles will be used in Germany and France.
