Klaus Bannwarth (42) relocates from Graz to Wels in his position as Branch Manager at logistics group Gebrüder Weiss. He takes over management of the Upper Austrian location from June 1, 2017. As Branch Manager of the Wels location, Bannwarth will be responsible for managing a team whose head count currently stands at 258 employees.
“After five successful years in Graz, I am looking forward to taking on a new challenge in Wels. My personal goal is to actively live the idea of ‘Service Excellence’ at Gebrüder Weiss together with my team and to gain an even firmer footing in the market as a full-service logistics provider,” says Bannwarth.
The logistical conditions in Wels are fantastic, not least due to the ideal location in terms of transport connections. GW provides daily connections throughout Europe and the direct rail connection allows to handle, store and prepare large volumes for last mile delivery within a short time. The Gebrüder Weiss Orange Combi Cargo block train, operating between Vienna and Vorarlberg, has daily stops in Wels, presenting another option for the efficient use of intermodal transportation
At present, the customer base for the Gebrüder Weiss location in Wels primarily consists of companies from the automotive, metal processing and mechanical engineering industries. In future, Bannwarth asserts, the location wants to extend its focus to include high-volume shippers and importers from the non-food sector.
The native of Lower Austria has been at the company since his days as an apprentice. After completing his training in Pöchlarn, Vienna and Germany, he was initially responsible for the development of the Eastern European Transports at Gebrüder Weiss in Vienna. He then took over the management of Corporate Sales and Eastern European Transports at the Pöchlarn location. He also served as Key Account Manager International Sales as well as Product Developer for Leisure & Sports Logistics. In September 2012, he moved to Graz to take over as Branch Manager.
