GLS Austria raises its prices due to further increasing personnel costs. In doing so, the company wants to ensure the quality of parcel delivery in the future. Also last year GLS Austria raised its prices.
“In Austria, the personnel situation on the transport market is becoming increasingly acute, and at the same time, the high-quality delivery is becoming more and more demanding, especially as a result of growing e-commerce,” explains Klaus Schädle, GLS Group Area Managing Director. “We have to take account of this development – which we see also in many other European countries – in order to operate cost-effectively.”
GLS Austria is investing in many areas to ensure enough capacity for the increasing volumes of parcels – especially in the fall and Christmas business season. The focus is on the further development and promotion of employees as well as long-term cooperation with the transport partners on the last mile. In addition, GLS Austria is investing in new buildings and expanding the capacity of its depots.
The parcel service also places value on sustainable delivery concepts. In addition to the use of eBikes and eScooters, this includes the regular certification of the environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001. Only recently, the internationally established certificate was confirmed. It certifies GLS Austria’s continuous and systematic improvement process of the actions to protect the environment.
