“We talk to people, listen to their needs and then develop alternative solutions,” is the motto of Jerich International. With this strategy, Herbert Jerich sen. made the breakthrough into the paper industry. This happened about 35 years ago, with a new transport system for export shipments of the Leykam paper mill (now Sappi Gratkorn) to Tunis.
Today, Jerich International is also firmly anchored in the automotive, steel, wood and consumer goods industries. For example, the Styrian plants of Magna Heavy Stamping and Magna Presstec are supplied daily with raw materials from the logistics terminal in Pirching by truck and rail transport.
The family-owned company has its own vehicle fleet of 160 articulated lorries and 40 own wagons. In rail logistics, the Styrian logistics service provider organises transports from Austria and Germany to Cuxhaven and Bucharest. The vehicle fleet will shortly be rejuvenated and modernised by adding 40 new Mercedes-Benz Actros.
Herbert Jerich sen. is very happy about the fact that his son Herbert Jerich jun. will be his successor, “who will continue the family business in my sense.” The entire Jerich International Group, headquartered in Gleisdorf, Styria currently employs 860 people and achieved a turnover of EUR 235 million in the year 2018.
In its issue 30/2019, the ÖVZ logistics magazine features a detailed report about Jerich International.
