One year after the start of construction, the Ikea logistics center is ready. On August 23, the handover to the logistics team took place. Now it was opened. Ikea Austria has invested more than 70 million euros in this location and created 150 new jobs.

The two-level IKEA logistics center in Vohburggasse 1, 1210 Vienna, has a multifunctional design. Since October 2nd, trucks from Wels are docking at one of the 43 loading gates in the new Customer Distribution Center in Vienna Strebersdorf: the first was greeted with applause by the whole team.

Expected by mid-November, the entire, huge logistics center will be well filled from top to bottom. Then nothing will stand in the way of the first deliveries to customers.

The ambitious goal for the future is to create customer deliveries as far as possible on the same day – the customer orders in the morning (online or in a furniture store) and gets the ordered goods till the evening. But it will take a while until then. For those who are in a hurry, there will be a pickup station from January – integrated into the CDC – where customers can pick up their ordered goods at any time.
