“We want to continue to grow and are looking for suitable places for our DIY megastores and garden centers. At the same time we invest intensively to modernise the existing facilities and expand our online shop where over 70,000 items can be ordered,” Stefan Goldschwendt, CEO of Hornbach Baumarkt GmbH, said during a press conference in Bad Fischau.

On this occasion, the manager announced their need for an additional warehouse of 8,000 – to 10,000 m² in Austria, which can also be managed by an external service provider, as he remarked when talking to the Österreichische Verkehrszeitung.

Hornbach has entered the Austrian market in August 1996 by opening its first branch abroad in Brunn am Gebirge close to Vienna. Since then they established 14 large-cale stores with 168,000 m² of sales area – five of them in Lower Austria, three in Upper Austria, two in Styria and one each in Vienna, Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Carinthia – creating more than 1,500 jobs. Turnover in the fiscal year 2015/16 amounted to EUR 200.4 million.
