H&M using logistics services of Sievert Handel Transporte

Interior equipment for the shops requires efficient warehouse management for fluctuating volumes of furniture

When it comes to the interior equipment, the textile company H&M in greater Aschaffenburg counts on the logistics services of Sievert Handel Transporte GmbH (sht). This year, the logistics company will equips three complete stores.

First, sht will take over the storage of the furniture. Material to equip a new store can occupy more than 1,000 m² of warehouse space. The challenge is the different sizes and nature of the furnishings: “For H&M orders we can not exactly calculate what to expect in terms of size and weight in advance,” explains Markus Hessler, heading the sht-site in Stockstadt.

In addition, pallets of different types and sizes are deployed. sht staff must therefore identify each delivery and store it in a way to most efficiently make use of the available space. At the same time, special care is necessary especially in dealing with visible parts such as shelves or counters.

“We prove high flexibility with storage and transport”, says Markus Hessler. For example, if the delivery sequence or the compilation of pallets has to be changed, the logistics provider assumes picking and repackaging of the goods. sht subsequently delivers the furnishings directly to the store. Thanks to an extensive fleet of specialized vehicles, such as truck mounted forklifts or crane vehicles, sht can respond to specific customer requests.
