Highly efficient rail logistics for Papierholz Austria

B&S Logistik, CD Cargo and WLC offer consistent traction from the Czech Republic to Styria with a Vectron locomotive

Highly efficient rail logistics for Papierholz Austria

As of January 2018, Papierholz Austria GmbH will enjoy improved service quality in rail freight transport between the Czech Republic and Austria. In the future, the woodchip block trains on the connection between the loading point in Zdirec Nad Doubravov and the Sappi paper mill in Gratkorn (Styria) will be in continuous traction with CD Cargo locomotives. Regular traffic is based on cooperation between CD Cargo, Wiener Lokalbahnen Cargo (WLC) and B&S Logistik.

So far, the block trains were operated with a locomotive change in Breclav on the Czech-Austrian border. As a result of the redesign of the services, there will no longer be an about three hours long stop at the border in the future, which speeds up the process and massively increases the punctuality of the transports. At the same time, the reliability of the traffic increases.

CD Cargo uses Zdirec Nad Doubravov – Gratkorn Vectron locomotives with Austria registration. In Austria, train drivers of the WLC are at the driver’s cab. Per train, eighteen cars with 1,300 gross tonnes are run.
