High level of quality for Austria’s forwarding apprentices

This year’s Euro Skills, from 25th to 29th of September 2018 in Budapest, turned out as a success story for the Austrian participant Michaela Dužić. With a convincing presentation, she was 2nd and won the silver medal. She was behind the participant from Russia and ahead of the German competitor.

“The freight forwarding industry participated in this year’s Euro Skills for the first time, so we are all the more thrilled by this impressive performance by the Austrian participant,” said Alfred Schneckenreither, chairman of the trade association of forwaring and logistics business in the Austrian Economic Chamber. “We congratulate Ms. Dužić for her great performance and her courage to compete in an international championship.”

Josefine Deiser, head of the work and training group in the trade association, was also impressed: “The success of Michaela Dužić shows the high quality level of Austrian freight forwarding apprentices and that they can face up to international comparison and competition. A job in the forwarding industry is technically challenging, it requires a high level of expertise, personal motivation and stress resistance. It’s great that our industry participates and shows the interesting career opportunities offered in international freight forwarding.”

The trade association of forwarding and logistics business in the Austrian Economic Chamber represents the interests of the approximately 1,800 Austrian freight forwarding companies. These companies make a significant contribution to employment and prosperity in Austria: the freight forwarding industry provides around 25,000 jobs, of which 975 are apprentices.
