From October 1, 2018, Helmut Schweighofer will be the new Chief Executive Officer of DB Schenker Europe. The current CEO of DB Schenker in Austria and Southeastern Europe will thus transfer to Germany and will be responsible for the European operations of the logistics provider. With more than 46,000 employees and 38 European national companies generating a total turnover of around EUR 12 billion, this is the largest business region of theinternational logistics group.
Schweighofer was born in Vorarlberg and started his career 30 years ago as an intern with DB Schenker. He graduated in international business management, completed several internships in England, Bulgaria and worked as branch manager at DB Schenker Vorarlberg.
In 2013 he was appointed as a member of the executive board of DB Schenker in Austria and South-East Europe and has been leading the company as CEO since 1 February 2016. Schenker & Co AG in Vienna serves as the Cluster Head Office for South East Europe and has a workforce of approximately 7,000 employees at 80 locations in the region’s 14 countries. Schweighofer will lead 38 countries from Frankfurt am Main, divided into 12 clusters.
As CEO of DB Schenker Europe, Schweighofer sees his main tasks in “sustainably positioning DB Schenker as a quality leader and further increase the success of the company,” as he said in his speech on the occasion of his appointment. He wants to clearly define responsibilities, exploit existing potential and optimise processes in order to offer customers in Europe more and better integrated solutions.
The successor of Helmut Schweighofer as CEO of DB Schenker in Austria and Southeast Europe will be filled in from the company, and will be announced shortly after the official decision by the Supervisory Board.
