Swissport International, the world’s largest provider of ground and cargo handling services in the aviation industry, and Flughafen Graz Betriebs GmbH announced the start of their new joint venture on 1 February: Swissport Cargo Services Graz GmbH, held by Swissport (51%) and Graz Airport (49%), with initially 12 employees will provide comprehensive cargo services, and is expected to handle about 10,000 tonnes of air freight per year on behalf of its airline and forwarding clients.

“Over the last months, we have been looking for a strong partner in order to better position our cargo business in the future”, DI Wolfgang Malik, Chairman of the Board of Holding Graz, and Mag. Gerhard Widmann, Managing Director of Graz Airport, explain in a press conference. “Swissport is an ideal partner for us, and we are convinced forming a joint venture was the most sustainable and future-oriented solution for Graz Airport but also the economy of Styria.”
