Girteka Logistics’ Annual Report for 2018 shows another remarkable year of results. Organic growth of the company reached record highs with sales revenue growth of 37%, equating to EUR 764 million. Last year saw 4,000 new staff join the company, with IT expertise alone tripling in numbers. At present, the company is 15 000 employees strong.
Girteka Logistics’ European expansion extended into Poland, with the opening of a new transport unit in the city of Poznan. This was another important step towards achieving the goals of expanding our business from 6,000 to 10,000 trucks and from 12,000 to 20,000 drivers by 2021. “Europe is our main market and we grew faster than other key players by taking advantage of our scale and process quality,” says Edvardas Liachovičius, Girteka Logistics CEO.
Girteka Logistics current company headquarters covers an area of 9 500 m2 with administrative premises for over 1,000 employees. However, with company growth planned to rapidly continue, a new headquarters complex – “Girteka Campus” – will be built close to Vilnius airport and completed by 2021.
“Girteka Campus” will cover 16 hectares and 26 000 m2 to include administrative premises, a truck service centre and a shopping and leisure centre. This will help the company to accommodate its planned expansion of increasing its total workforce to 23 000 employees by 2021.
Industry awards in 2018 included recognition by the “Financial Times” for innovative achievements in corporate digital technology. Girteka Logistics was the only Lithuanian company to feature among the FT’s Top100 of the most innovative companies in Europe. The company also received national recognition as the fastest growing employer in Lithuania.
Girteka Logistics is one of the leading transport companies in Europe with about 460,000 FTLs per year. Founded in 1996, the company has grown organically from one truck to a fleet of 6,000 trucks and 6,500 semi-trailers in Europe, Scandinavia, Russia and CIS.
