Geis Group enhances its air/sea freight network in Central Europe

The international Geis Group is increasing its commitment to the overseas shipping division: With effect from 1st December 2018, the logistics service provider will take over Müller + Partner GmbH (M+P) with its air and sea freight division in Germany. Both parties agreed to keep the purchase price silent.

Founded in 1976, Müller + Partner GmbH today employs around 120 people in Germany in the air and sea freight segment. They are working at the headquarters in Fulda as well as in Berlin, Dortmund and Frankfurt. All sites and all employees are taken over by Geis Air + Sea GmbH and integrated into the company. Thus, the contact persons for the customers will remain the same also in the new environment. The Contract Logistics division remains with M+P and will not be integrated into the Geis Group.

The managing partner of M+P, Ortwin Schmidt, will focus on contract logistics in the future. The former CFO Ralf Mihm will be the new commercial director of Geis Air + Sea GmbH.

“With this acquisition, we are massively strengthening our Air + Sea Services business unit and also expanding our range of services,” explain the Managing Partners Hans-Georg Geis and Wolfgang Geis. “More importantly, with the volumes gained, we achieve reliable capacity and optimised rates for carriers. And that’s what benefits our customers in the end.”

International Air + Sea Services has been a core competence of the Geis Group for more than 40 years. In the meantime, from 2002 until the end of 2015, together with Bolloré Geis was operating the joint venture SDV Geis in the field of air and sea freight in Germany. Since this year, 100% Geis companies are working again. At the beginning of the year Geis Air + Sea GmbH was newly founded and TAS Transport and Service GmbH was taken over.

Geis now has its own central European air and sea freight network in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Luxembourg and Switzerland. “We want to score points with great customer proximity and comprehensive services,” says Stefan Wendl, Managing Director of Geis Air + Sea GmbH. “We have created the basis on which we will develop our business in the future.”

Since its founding in 1945, the Geis Group, headquartered in the Franconian town of Bad Neustadt, has developed into a global full-service logistics provider with more than 6,300 employees at 140 of its own network and logistics locations throughout Europe. The owner-managed company offers its customers the complete range of logistical services: from classic truck traffic through global air and sea freight to complex logistics services.
