Gebrüder Weiss is further expanding its Czech headquarters in Jeneč, near Prague. Three new warehouses with a total area of almost 9,000 sqm will be constructed by the fall of 2017. The logistics provider will thus double its cargo handling and logistics capacities at this location to a total of around 18,000 sqm.
“Since the opening in April 2013, our services in Jeneč have been very popular. The expansion was necessary as we were literally running out of space. Demand in the hazardous goods area has risen, in particular, and we will be able to meet all of it from fall onward,” comments Karel Šindelář, Branch Manager Gebrüder Weiss Jeneč.
Also the headcount will be increased and the staff facilities will be modernised as part of the expansion. The investment volume comes to around EUR 5 million. As one of seven Czech locations of the international transport and logistics provider Gebrüder Weiss, Jeneč provides its customers with the entire spectrum of transport and logistics services, including specialist solutions for highly sensitive products. The customer database therefore includes numerous companies in the high-tech, automotive, and engineering industries.
“In addition to performing the usual warehousing activities, Jeneč also meets the toughest TAPA safety requirements and has its own hazardous goods depot. Following the expansion, we will provide our customers with a more comprehensive portfolio especially in this area,” adds Mr Šindelář.
Since its entry into the market in 1992, Gebrüder Weiss has successfully established itself in the Czech Republic. In 2016, the company generated a turnover of around EUR 62 million. The number of employees also increased by more than 40 percent in the past ten years alone (2007: 240 employees / 2017: 340).
