For its recently developed security system “Transport Security Standard (TSS)”, Gebrüder Weiss received the Hermes.Verkehrs.Logistik.Preis in the “Supply Chain Management” category at the Vienna Hofburg on April 26. “This award is a recognition of the high security standards that we offer to our customers in the land transport” said Jürgen Bauer, member of the Gebrüder Weiss management board.
The definition of TSS was developed based on the TAPA regulations and the safety requirements of the industry and is applied to all transports within the scope of the logistics group. “The TSS is tailored to the needs of European land transport, but can also be used as a benchmark for other areas” explains Alexander Horak, Head of Industry Vertical High-Tech at Gebrüder Weiss.
Together with the customers, the group’s safety officers develop the processes. The subsequent results are then implemented and subjected to annual audits. Partners and customers in particular benefit from the continuously improved security concepts. By now, around 55,000 FTL (Full Truck Loads) are monitored throughout Europe every year.
“The establishment of security standards has reduced the loss in value of our customers by almost 70 percent in recent years” says Horak. This resulted from both, the reduction in attempted thefts and a defined program which reduces losses through rapid intervention in the case of theft.
With more than 7,100 employees, 150 company-owned locations and a provisional annual turnover of EUR 1.67 billion (2018), Gebrüder Weiss ranks among Europe’s leading transport and logistics companies. In addition to its core business of land transport, air & sea freight, and logistics, the company operates a number of highly specialized industry solutions and subsidiaries under the umbrella of Gebrüder Weiss Holding AG.
