Innofreight has developed another new type of container – the 40ft ScrapTainer. DB Cargo AG is renting from Innofreight Germany.a ScrapTainer train for bulk material transports (raw materials for the steel industry) between Germany and Austria. The block train is 534 m long and can be loaded with payloads of up to 2,730 t.

The newly developed ScrapTainer 40ft is an open container for transporting ferrous, steel and mixed scrap as well as heavy bulk materials. Together with the 80ft InnoWaggon, the containers yield a tara weight of 43.5 tonnes and a maximum payload of 136.5 tonnes.

In regular use, no removal of the container is intended for unloading, the goods are unloaded by crane / excavator. A removal of the container is, however, possible for maintenance or storage purposes, which is why the wagon can also be used universally for all other containers.
