First cut of the spade for new TSA service location in Upper Styria

On June 22, the Terminal Service Austria has set the ground for the construction of a workshop for the repair and maintenance of intermodal transport containers, in St. Michael in Upper Styria. The investment of EUR 2.8 million is a cooperation agreement with 20 years maturity with the forwarding company Innofreight, whose innovative freight transport and logistics systems require professional maintenance.

Andreas Fuchs, Managing Director Terminal Service Austria, described the investment as a measure to promote economic region in Upper Styria. The number of employees in St. Michael will be increased from seven to ten employees by 2018. The related services shall attract one or other intermodal transport to the region again, in addition to the related transports on behalf of Innofreight.

Terminal Service Austria was established in 2013 due to the spin-off from Rail Cargo Austria AG and the transfer to ÖBB Infrastruktur AG. Since then, the handling volume has increased by 11 percent, from 660,000 ITE (UCT and RoLa) in 2013 to 730,000 ITE in 2015. In two years the mark of 800,000 ITE shall be skipped, says Business Area Manager Andreas Fuchs.

With 240 employees at eight locations Terminal Service Austria operates as a neutral service provider for cargo handling and many other terminal services.
