There is still the possibility for companies to apply for a grant, advertised by the Federal Ministry. To support innovative modernisation and the implementation of new technologies to the fleets, eligible shipping companies receive a non-repayable grant of up to 40 per cent.
Direct grants are available for ships, which contribute to an environmentally friendly and secure inland waterway transport. Those include the installation and purchase of exhaust gas after treatment installations, the optimization of propulsion systems and steering gears. Funding is processed by viadonau – Österreichische Wasserstraßen-Gesellschaft mbH.
