Fiege to launch CheckOut2China for European retailers

China has become the world’s largest e-commerce market over the last years. In the especially fast growing field of cross-border e-commerce, the logistics provider Fiege now offers an easy entry into the Chinese market for European retailers and branded companies. With their CheckOut2China service the Westphalian family-owned enterprise manages all delivery and customs clearance processes from the warehouse ramp right up to the Chinese doorstep and enables a rapid and risk-free market entry.

Whether the warehouse is operated by a service provider or by the clients themselves is not important. In addition to their logistical expertise Fiege also advises new market entrants on particularities of the Chinese online trade, such as customs legislations, payment options and shopping platforms. Since the middle of last year, the logistics provider processes several thousand consignments from Germany to the Chinese online shoppers per week.

“For European retailers CheckOut2China offers the possibility to test and serve a huge market without major investments or market knowledge – considering the fact that our prices approximately correspond to package prices within Europe,” says Hannes Streeck, CEO of Fiege Far East with headquarters in Shanghai.

According to a joint study of the management consultant firm Accenture and Alibaba subsidiary AliResearch, 200 millions of Chinese people will purchase 245 billion US$ worth of goods abroad by 2020. Those online shoppers are called “Hai Taos” in China, which translates as “overseas shoppers”.

Baby and beauty products as well as household goods made in Germany are in particular high demand among brand-conscious Chinese clients. That the product’s origin is considered as an important promise of quality, Fiege learned in a special way: “Due to the quick delivery some clients were convinced that their goods originated from China and thus wanted to return the items. With our Track & Trace solution, the consumers can now monitor the entire shipping process and can be assured of the origin of the product,” says Hannes Streeck.

At Fiege, it is believed that the in-house cross-border solution provides significant added value for European retailers. “CheckOut2China is a good example of successful teamwork within the Fiege Group. We bundle our e-commerce expertise with our networks in the air freight sector and in China. Market demand confirms that thereby we are creating noticeable added value,” explains Martin Rademaker, Managing Director Fashion & Online Retail.
