“With our own departments in Bolzano, Verona and Milan, we have been providing transport and logistical services to and from the former USSR countries for quite some time. Our own subsidiary in the Ukraine will enable us to better serve these transports locally and in the most important transit country,” says Thomas Baumgartner, President of Fercam.

In the newly opened offices in Kiev, road transport from Ukraine to all of Europe will be supervised for the time being; at the same time, the branch primarily serves companies in the textile industry and the production of glass and wood products as well as raw materials.

In addition, the branch will manage the distribution and customs clearance of incoming goods. Thus, for the majority of FTL and LTL coming from Turkey also customs clearance is made. Most of the goods are imported from Asia via Turkey to Ukraine.

“In addition to the steadily growing number of FTL and LTL that we handle in Ukraine, the increasing importance of the port of Odessa for international traffic is particularly interesting,” says Hansjörg Faller, responsible for Fercam’s Eastern Europe region.

The geographic location of Ukraine is a strategic bridge for international traffic to countries such as Kazakhstan, Russia and other Central Asian states. In addition to road transport, in Kiev the construction of an air and sea freight department for the management of intercontinental freight traffic is planned in the medium term.
