On 31 October 2015, Chief Representative Karl Engelhard will end his activities at the logistics provider Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and enter his well-deserved retirement. After more than 20 years in the company management he is leaving the Hellmann company at the age of 71 years.
A lot has happened over the years. The company has grown rapidly. Today worldwide 12,872 employees work for Hellmann and achieved a turnover of EUR 3 billion last year.
Karl Engelhard was a Member of the Main Board and was responsible for sales, marketing and product management. He has already passed those segments gradually to younger colleagues in recent years. He kept some core products such as the Hospital Logistics until last, as he was also responsible for lobbying.
Karl Engelhard took some detours before entering logistics business.
After his training as a textile merchant, and two years in the army, he worked in the coffee industry for 32 years. At the age of 51 years he moved to the logistics industry to Hellmann. Karl Engelhard says: “I have never regretted this decision for a single day. It has always given me a lot of fun and I was very happy to work for the company. ”
