Just before the end of the year 2019, the Ennshafen port has reached another milestone: The 16 millionth tonne of landside/waterborne cargo was handled at the quay of Danubia Speicherei GmbH on 19th December. The motor vessel named Rubiships XII will carry the load of 1,000 tonnes of salt, packed in Big Bags, to Belgrade, Serbia.

This transport is a perfect logistics chain on the waterway. The goods arrive by rail at the Danubia Speicherei in Enns on a regular basis, where they will be stored temporarily, and forwarded to Serbia’s capital by ship every fortnight. The last mile to the end customer is covered by truck.

“Our salt deliveries to Belgrade are a best practive example for transports on the waterway. The route section from Ebensee in the Salzkammergut region to Belgrade does not require a single kilometre of truck transport”, emphasises Georg Dobesberger, Managing Director Danubia Speicherei.
