Germany’s largest manufacturer of wind turbines, Enercon from Aurich, has expanded its heavy-duty transport fleet with six Goldhofer “Ventum” self-propelled bogies. The innovative solution for extremely long rotor blades is extendable to a total length (including gooseneck) of 72 meters thanks to its five times telescopic capability.
With immediate effect, the Frisian wind power expert can quickly and safely transport wind wings of more than 70 meters in length by land. Other reasons for expanding the fleet are the transferable, raised and lowered gooseneck, the use of the pendulum axle technology and the option of adding the rail-mounted “Bladex” lifting device.
“Transporting such long and large rotor blades reliably and just-in-time to their destinations is an enormous challenge. With the new Goldhofer semi-trailer, Ventum ‘, we can tackle the demanding challenges that arise over long distances as intelligently as flexibly, “says Hans-Dieter Kettwig and Simon-Hermann Wobben, managing directors of Enercon GmbH.
The trend towards wind turbines with large rotor diameters is increasing. The giant wings are mainly used for low-wind turbines and, if the hub height is suitable, for modernization as well as for the conversion or extension of existing plants.
