When young people start into working life, this means great excitement for them. How will it be? How will the colleagues be like? How is the supervisor like? Positive uncertainty is spreading.

“It is therefore particularly important to us to pick up the apprentices well on their first day,” emphasises Judith Siedl. The Head of Personnel Development, responsible for the (vocational) training at Hödlmayr Logistics Austria refers to the Welcome Day, which took place in early September in Schwertberg and was dedicated to eight new apprentices and their parents.

In addition to a first introduction and orientation around apprenticeship training and the associated milestones and highlights, there was a two-hour tour of the company premises. They also presented training coordinator Carmen Steiner, who has been an apprentice with heart and soul herself.

“The perfect ‘onboarding’, as we call it, is undoubtedly an important piece of the puzzle in dealing with the apprentices – and so is to have a contact person who takes care of concerns during the entire training period,” says Judith Siedl about the importance of the role of her colleague.

Also HLA managing director Andreas Sundl and personnel manager Andreas Schilde welcomed the apprentices personally to the Hödlmayr family.
