DSV Road and dm drogerie-markt testing e-truck

On 10 May Federal Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt handed over a grant to Peter Fog-Petersen, Managing Director DSV Road GmbH, covering the use of a battery-driven 18 tonnes truck. In August 2016 the test run of the e-truck will be started with the branch supply of the dm-drogerie stores in the city centre of Cologne.

The truck is driven with electricity instead of diesel. It has zero emissions and makes less noise, making it ideal for city logistics. One battery charge of the environmentally friendly vehicle covers about 200 kilometres. The truck is being rebuilt in the Netherlands. The project is part of joint efforts of DSV and its longstanding customer dm drogerie-markt, to take over more responsibility in sustainable issues.

Cities, municipalities, districts and municipal stakeholders receive financial funding in the context of a program run by the Ministry of Transport and digital Infrastructure in Berlin, for the purchase of electronic vehicles, load infrastructure and local electro mobility systems. The total volume of the 96 grants is EUR 7.1 million. This allows total investments of about EUR 17 million.
