Contract for Germany contains modified obligations for the logistics provider and becomes effective in advance

DSV Road and dm-drogerie markt renew their cooperation agreement

DSV and dm-drogerie markt are extending their 30 years-cooperation for the national supply of dm-shops in Germany by five more years. Europe’s biggest drugstore chain and the Danish transport and logistics provider thereby emphasise on their strategic cooperation.
The recently signed contract is valid until 2021 and includes many modifications, apart from the regulation of current business conditions. “Together with DSV we are discussing the future – the present business works,” Christian Bodi, CEO dm responsible of logistics, comments the signing of the contract. The perspective of the longer-term cooperation opens joint investment potential in sustainable solutions to both parties.
The new transport contract replaces the one expiring in June 2016 prematurely and includes, among other things, redesigning of delivery times, performance figures as well as the commitment to joint activities in the field of sustainability. In April a function test for the use of an electrically powered approach vehicle for swap bodies and semi-trailers will be launched on the grounds of the dm-distribution centre in Weilerswist.
Last year, the switch from Euro flat pallets made of wood, to elaborated plastic pallets, was a sustainable project that could be implemented. The pallets DSV used for picking and store delivery are characterised by an ergonomic advantage for the employees in the dm-shops and a much longer life span in comparison to wooden pallets. They are 100 percent recyclable, the plastic granulate flows back into the production cycle.
Currently DSV ensures the nationwide supply of more than 1,700 dm shops from the distribution centers operated by dm-drogerie markt and DSV. Therefore more than 1,000 trucks carry more than 10,000 pallets on an average day.
