DrivingChange™ or applied sustainability with DPDgroup

Launching DrivingChange™, DPD shows its commitment to the principle of sustainability, and positions itself as a responsible partner for customers, business partners, employees and society. At the same time the international DPDgroup sets the course for long-term and sustainable development of its business operations. This reflects the idea that responsibe corporate governance and long-term economic success are interdependent.

The strategic focus of DrivingChange™ lies on four areas:

-) Climate neutral parcel transport: Transporting three million parcels per day means a significant amount of in harmful emissions. DPD has therefore special responsibility and is committed to climate-neutral transport of all parcels – at no extra cost for the customer. Therefore DPD measures all transport-related CO2 emissions, takes action to reduce these emissions and compensates them in a last step by purchasing carbon emission certificates.

-) Intelligent city logistics: With intelligent logistics concepts DPD reduces congestion in city centers. At the same time innovative delivery services provide maximum flexibility. For example DPD’s Predict Service can predict just an hour ahead of when the delivery is on the doorstep. Anyone who is not at home, can adapt the service based on numerous options. Thus, receiving of parcels can be easiy and conveniently integrated into everyday life. Moreover, in this way, the rate of successful first deliveries rises, which also leads to reduced distances and times.

-) Innovative corporate operation: Global trends such as digitization change the economy and society. With innovation and entrepreneurship DPD makes the constant change part of its own business. DPD is already an innovation leader in B2C delivery, and opens up new growth markets with financial interests in other companies. One example is the financial commitment in tiramizoo, a same day start-up company. In addition, DPD together with the parcel services GLS and Hermes, has established the joint venture ParcelLock, which will establish a vendor neutral parcel box system and thus provide an important infrastructure for parcel delivery and e-commerce.

-) Social responsibility: DPD is understood as an active part of society. At 76 locations in Germany the parcel logisticcs company emphasizes strongly on regional networks. Locally, DPD supports a number of social projects and organisations – financially, as well as through employees or logistical assistance. As an employer and business partner DPD accepts responsibility. DPD looks after the well-being of staff and delivery staff, and promotes their development. In addition, the company supports DPD Hilfsfonds, to help staff and delivery staff in personal emergencies.

DrivingChange™ is in line with the international growth strategy of DPDgroup, Europe’s second-largest parcel service network. One focus lies on the orientation towards the strongly growing e-commerce sector: innovative delivery services offer a maximum flexibility and transparency in parcel shipment to private recipients. The internationally harmonised network of parcel pickup shops is expanded continuously and has currently 22,000 locations in 14 countries.
