“DHL will not withdraw from the Austrian market.” This statement was made by Christian Kirchmayer, Head of Commercial of DHL Paket (Austria) GmbH, headquartered in Vienna, towards the newspaper NÖ Nachrichten (NÖN). Subject to the approval by the Federal Competition Authority, they decided to cooperate with Österreichische Post AG, in which a large part of the logistics infrastructure of DHL Paket Austria will be transferred to Austrian Post.
Christian Kirchmayer: “The agreement relates exclusively to the business segment of DHL Paket (Austria) GmbH and has no impact on the operations of Deutsche Post DHL Group in international express business, freight transport and supply chain solutions in Austria.”
However, according to NÖN, it is still unclear how things will continue with the logistics center in Hagenbrunn, which was built for DHL. The new building will not be put into operation. Austrian Post refrains from acquiring the property, which is currently being offered by several brokers on the market. The owner of the property is Kara Handelsgesellschaft.m.b.H. in Vienna.
The property covers around 55,000 m² with nearly 1,100 m² of office space and 10,500 m² of warehouse space. The new logistics center is equipped with state-of-the-art ramp and gate technology with 60 ramps and gates for cross docking and another 72 Sprinter gates.
