In March 2020, Désirée Baer will take over the management of SBB Cargo, following a one-month introductory programme. Désirée Baer, who holds a degree in business administration from the University of St. Gallen (HSG), has been CEO of Securitrans Public Transport Security AG since 2017, with almost 1,000 employees.

Prior to this, she spent seven years as a member of the Management Board of SBB Infrastructure, where she was responsible for various areas including production, logistics, fleet management, purchasing, sales and IT. Désirée Baer succeeds Nicolas Perrin, who will join the Board of Directors of SBB Cargo AG in the second quarter of 2020.

Désirée Baer also has experience in management consulting and was managing director of a start-up company. His broad entrepreneurial rail experience is an important prerequisite for managing SBB Cargo: The freight railway has been a company of the SBB group since the beginning of 2019 and is about to be joined by private logistics partners.

With around 2,300 employees, it is the backbone of the Swiss economy and links the major economic areas. Every year, SBB Cargo AG transports around 29.8 million net tonnes of goods, equivalent to almost 10,000 truck journeys per day.
