In the presence of numerous customers as well as prominence from politics, business and culture, the integrated logistics service provider DB Schenker celebrated the 100th anniversary of its Carinthia office and the 50th anniversary of its presence in Klagenfurt on 22 November. In his speech Alexander Winter, CEO DB Schenker Austria and Southeastern Europe, complemented the Klagenfurt branch as an extremely important economic factor for DB Schenker.

Carinthia’s Governor Dr. Peter Kaiser praised the existence of a logistics service provider that ensures that the Carinthian economy functions properly. “It makes our country proud to have such a company,” he addressed the hosts of the gala evening.

The company employs 75 staff at the Klagenfurt and Villach Süd (Fürnitz) locations.

“We want to operate green logistics centres in the future and supply customers by environmental friendly trucks,” said Klaus-Maxilian Hermeter, head of the Klagenfurt branch, outlining the goals for the future. In this context, he als emphasised the importance of well-trained employees.

The DB Schenker logistics terminal at Klagenfurt Airport will reach its full expansion by 2020. After completion of the EUR 6 million construction works, the site will offer 2,300 m² of transshipment warehouse, 5,843 m² of shelving and 1,685 m² of hazardous materials warehouse.
