DB Schenker again official logistics partner of the Ironman 2015

As the official logistics partner DB Schenker will also this year assume the supply of about 3,000 participants of the IRONMAN Austria in Klagenfurt, Carinthia. This includes the transportation of the equipment of the sportspeople from more than 60 nations and the provision of fruit and beverages. The organisers of the event put their trust into DB Schenker’s expertise for the twelfth time in a row.
The Ironman 2015 takes place on 28 June in Klagenfurt. To the triathletes this means: swim 3.8 kilometres in the Wörthersee, 180.2 kilometres biking and a 42.195 kilometres marathon to reach the finish in Klagenfurter Ostbucht.
“The athletes should not suffer any time loss. The sportspeople should be able to fully concentrate on their performance – we are taking care for everything else,” explains Klaus Maximilian Hermetter, branch manager of DB Schenker in Klagenfurt.
Around 100 employees of DB Schenker therefore support the Ironman team and take care of the information about the procedure of the competition, and particularly the supply of 3,000 athletes: 85,000 cups and bottles, 53,000 liters of beverages, 5 tonnes of fruit and 25,000 energy bars will be distributed to the athletes along the racetrack.
In addition to drinks and energy snacks the DB Schenker team will also issue self-supply packages to participants, wich have been put together individually by the athletes for the competition and transferred to the staff of DB Schenker in advance. Via electronic tracking, the position of the triathletes is transmitted to the DB Schenker team, so that upon their arrival, the athlete’s individual care package can be issued. DB Schenker offers this service exclusively at the Ironman Austria in Carinthia.
