Since November 2005, Stute Logistics, a 100% subsidiary of Kuehne + Nagel, has been supplying the Hamburg-based Daimler works with the entire range of articles required for production. Now Daimler AG decided to renew the service agreement for its open warehouse in Hamburg for three more years.
The service agreement covers acceptance of goods, storage, order picking and transport of the parts to the works. In addition, Stute provides various services such as customs clearance for imported goods, inventory control of purchased parts, storage of empty containers and machinery spare parts as well as SAP-receipt of direct deliveries at the works.
“Subsequent to the expansion of our works we will also cooperate closely with external service providers,” says Nicole Biedermann, Head of Supply Chain Management, Daimler AG. “Bearing in mind the volumes handled at the open warehouse, the Stute company has proven to be a reliable partner, also in terms of process optimisation.”
The central warehouse in Hamburg has grown continuously since 2005, to 20,000 m². Today the plant is supplied with a fleet of six 40-tonnes trucks around the clock. With the renewed agreement, volumes continue to rise, therefore a property of close to 5,000 m² and additional open warehouse areas will complete the current storage capacity in the future. Moreover Stute ins investing in new equipment and additional staff to meet the growing requirements.
