Dachser Austria and blue danube airport linz unveil sculpture of internationality

The international logistics company Dacher and blue danube airport linz stand for internationality and innovation. The Austrian artist Erwin Kastner realised this idea in his steel sculpture. With a height of 4,5 metres and a total weight of 4,5 tons, it is a strong symbol and can be easily seen from afar. Since September the piece of art has adorned the roundabout Flughafenstraße / Thomas-Dachser Straße in Hörsching.
In the presence of the Artist and the governor of Upper Austria Josef Pühringer, the mayor of the municipality Hörsching, Gunter Kastler the two deputy mayors Alfred Domokosch and Regina Habith as well as the manager of the airport Linz Dipl.-Ing. Gerhard Kunesch and the two Dachser location managers in Linz, Gerald Gatterbauer for the business field Air & Sea Logistics and Michael Rauhofer for the business field European Logistics, the sculpture was ceremoniously unveiled at the roundabout Flughafenstraße / Thomas-Dachser-Straßeon 24 September.
In a shape of a globe, the object symbolises the international activities which link the company and the city of Linz. Linz as a steel city stands for a cosmopolitan attitude, the colour blue in the artwork on the one hand symbolises the Danube and on the other hand the blue danube airport linz. The different transport carriers on the object stand for the different corporate divisions and point in different directions. The plane points in the direction of the airport Linz, the truck towards the logistics company Dachser and the ship symbolising the Dachser Air & Sea Logistics activities, points to the Danube.
The base of the sculpture is made of granite from the Mühlviertel area and stands for attachment to their home country and stability. The municipality Hörsching supported the project right from the beginning and took on the job of construction the foundation and setting up the steel sculpture. The costs of the object were split between the company blue danube airport linz and Dachser Austria.
