“Thomas Rumplmayr was sentenced to three years and one month in prison, Rainer Rumplmayr to one year and a month – both unconditional. Neither defence lawyer nor prosecutor have appealed, therefore the convictions are final“, reads the newspaper Oberösterreichische Nachrichten on Saturday.

The case concerned acts performed by the Interliner transport company headquartered in Ried im Traunkreis, which went bankrupt in mid-2009.

The Rumplmayr brothers were accused of serious fraud, Thomas Rumplmayr additionally of fraudulent bankruptcy offense., Raiffeisenlandesbank Upper Austria was listed as a victim in the indictment.

In total, the former transport operators received even higher sentences, because the judgments in Steyr can be seen as additional punishment to convictions that became final a few years in Germany (both) and Hungary (Rainer Rumplmayr).
