The working group of international road transport companies in Austria (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Internationaler Straßenverkehrsunternehmer Österreichs -AISÖ) was informed by the IRU that Russian customs authorities, by order N° 2568 of 14 December 2015, will accept the TIR carnet at 45 selected customs offices again.
The order N° 2568 was issued on 18 December 2015 by the Russian Ministry of Justice (reg. N° 40161) and will become effective within 30 days.
The selected border crossings will be the customs offices at the Baltic border (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania), Scandinavia (Finland, Norway), Poland and the Ukraine, as well as Azerbaijan, Georgia and Mongolia.
However, problems with handling the TIR Carnets in practice cannot be excluded even at the named customs offices yet.
