Up to 100 customs officers to ensure smooth flow of international road freight traffic

Brenner: Border controls expected from April 2016

Border controls at the Brenner pass are expected to start this April, as informs the Transport Division of the Austrian Economic Chamber in its current news.

The planned controls mean limitations and delays, which shall be kept at a minimum level however, said Günther Platter, head of the provincial government in Tyrol. The risk of traffic congestion shall be kept as low as possible.

Furthermore Hans Jörg Schelling, Financial Minister, said he will temporarily delegate hundred customs officers to support the border control at Brenner. Equipped with modern technology they shall ensure a smooth flow of the truck traffic.
