Award for transparency in airfreight with Panalpina

The GT Nexus Shipper Council, a community group of supply chain executives representing multiple large global enterprises, has named Panalpina, the leading global freight forwarding and logistics company, as winner of the 2016 Air Performance Award. The award was given at Bridges 2016, the leading cloud supply chain industry event held July 10-13 in New York as part of Inforum.

“The Shipper Council is a perfect example of the power of global business networks coming together and acting as a single community,” said Maryanna Kersten, Senior Manager of International Logistics at Del Monte and Chairperson of the Shipper Council. “The collective power of the community is driven by the ability to benchmark data each year against specific metrics to measure performance, foster innovation, and recognise leaders that demonstrate excellence in areas such as air transportation that improve service levels to customers across the platform. Panalpina excelled this year in demonstrating leadership and commitment to customer service and data quality for air transport.”

Benchmark data available through the GT Nexus platform provides detailed performance metrics around data quality, responsiveness, onboarding times, and customer service. Panalpina excelled this year in demonstrating leadership and commitment to customer service and data quality for air transport.

Transparency – access to information about a shipment at all times from everywhere – is critical for shippers. They want to know where, and in what state, their goods are in the supply chain. The GT Nexus Shipper Council looked at a sample of over 1,000 Panalpina Air Freight shipments, and concluded that the company reached 99% of KPIs in terms of data quality.

“As a freight forwarder you have to provide visibility to your customers. It’s a must, and for visibility you need reliable data,” said Valerie Kilburn, Supply Chain Business Consultant and EDI Development Manager at Panalpina. “Being recognized by the Shipper Council community validates our efforts and affirms our commitment to customer service.”
