Supervisory Board appointed Andreas Matthä as new CEO; his position in the management board of ÖBB-Infrastruktur to be put out for tender shortly

Andreas Matthä was appointed the new CEO of ÖBB-Holding

At its meeting on 4 July 2016, the Supervisory Board of ÖBB-Holding AG appointed Andreas Matthä as the new CEO. Together with CFO Josef Halbmayr, he will manage the business of ÖBB-Holding AG with immediate effect. His previous position in the management board of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG will be shortly put out for tender, according to the legal provisions.

“Andreas Matthä has many years of experience in the company and excellent expertise. Under his management, the ÖBB were able to successfully implement large modernisation projects respecting the given time frame and budget”, said Brigitte Ederer, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, ÖBB-Holding.

The manager has been working for ÖBB for over three decades and had been holding various board functions since 2008, with a focus on finance, strategy and asset management at ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG. He started his career with ÖBB as a trained technician in the infrastructure sector, where he was initially responsible for bridge construction. From 1995, Matthä assumed management positions in the areas of human resources, controlling and accounting, while studying corporate management at the Vienna University of Applied Sciences.

Lately he had been holding a position with ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG, as Chairman of the Management Board in charge of finance, market and service, and thus was responsible for the largest subgroup of the company with 17,000 employees.
