“Our industry can only maintain its future viability if it focuses on service. Nevertheless, digitalisation is of enormous importance” emphasised Alexander Friesz, President of the Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association, at the award ceremony for the 2019 Young Freight Forwarder in Salzburg.
13 works were submitted to this year’s competition. Of these, three projects by female freight forwarders were selected to the final round. The jury of experts chose Alena Kubicek from Österreichische Post AG as the winner for her project “City Containers as Inner-City Solutions”.
Online trading poses new challenges for city logistics. The City Container shall ease this situation. It will be delivered daily to a public location, from where distributin is effected by a freight bicycle. This would significantly reduce CO2 emissions.
Hatun Yurttas from Gebrüder Weiss took second place in the Young Forwarders 2019 competition for her work “Check-in Counter for Truck Registration”. The third place was given to Johanna Winzer from Gebrüder Weiss for the “Parcel Drive-In” project.
